The last decade has been good to Castle Hume Golf Club, a reader reports. (Courtesy discovernorthernireland.com) |
I am currently a member of Castle Hume Golf Club, and I personally believe that I have not played a better parkland golf course anywhere.
Castle Hume was known to many as a bog about 10 years ago, and this is why I think it is not receiving the recognition it should be. In these last 10 years a lot of money has been spent on the course and in particular on draining the entire course and improving the greens. To date, I don't seem to have played a harder course (well, honestly, Royal County Down, but that was with driving rain and a gale-force wind). I think this course is a hidden gem, and you can always be assured of a warm welcome, whether it's from the staff in the pro shop, members out and about or staff upstairs in the bar and restaurant!

"My wife and I have played lots of courses throughout Ireland and have played this beautiful course about 4 or 5 times now, and we both agree that it is one of the best golf courses in Ireland," GolfEurope.com reader Don Kirkaldy reports.
