Course Details
Course Name: Rhon eV Fulda Holes: 18 Yardage: SSS: 70 |
Golf Course Rhon, a parkland course was designed by Kurt Peters. Golf Course Rhon is built on a high plateau (425 meters above sea level) in the mid-German highland region of the 'Rhon'. This position provides the course with wonderful views in every direction, to the west the city of Fulda, to the south the Wasserkruuppe (the highest peak in central Germany at 930meters), down to the village of Hofbeiber and the Schloss Bieberstein (a one time Bishops residence now a public school). This panorama is certainly one of the most endearing features of the course, because playing it, especially for the first time, it is quite a test of golf. The course is best in the season between mid-April until October, although one can play out of season (often on temporary greens) as long as the course is not snow-logged. The fairways are generously side, which is just as well, as, because of the many tee-shots are blind, the course being mildly undulating. There are a fair amount of trees, but not so many as to spoil the view, and the bunkering is not really penal nature. Four Par 5 holes are offset by five Par 3's and ten Par 4's, a good score on the par 3's probably being the key to a successful round. There are four fairly small but effective water hazards on the course, it being advisable to note the positions on the tee marker-boards before the drive. On summer days with little or no wind, the course provides a welcome relief from long 'championship. Style layouts, it allows errors of judgement in direction and is not especially long, Which combines to make a round a relaxing enjoyment. Because of its exposed position however, should the wind blow beware, for even the shorter par 4's can become out of range and a good score a rarity!
