Los Arqueros G&CC
A trip to the Costa del Sol in the south of Spain isn't complete without a round on the first course designed by one of Europe's most charismatic and talented golfers, Severiano Ballesteros. There are no shortage of challenges to be had as this course winds it's way through steep hills, narrow fairways, lots of elevation changes, uphill and downhill lies and more than a few water hazards to navigate around. Good course management and finding fairways are rewarded with a fair score but poorly struck shots will run up the numbers in no time. Holes 6, 7 and 8 is referred to locally as the Spanish version of Amen corner. The course seems to open up to wider fairways after 13. Great views are everywhere. I was rewarded with a cold pint after the round for having lost the fewest golf balls in our group...3.
