Nothing negative to say
Lost my wedge on 9 and they brought it back to my be the 11th, brought bacon rolls out to us on course, all staff lovely, course brilliant layout and great condition, pacey greens
Beautiful challenging course
One of the nicest I've played to date. Challenging and in immaculate condition. Beautiful walk around too.
An excellent course
I’ve probably played the course at least half a dozen times now and it never lets you down. It’s a challenging course and yes, loads and loads of water! Which I love the challenge that it creates.
I was surprised at the condition of the course, I thought it was excellent.
I love playing here and will be back very shortly…again, actually this Friday already!
I can’t wait!
Great course, mind numbing pace of play.
I enjoyed the course at Pyrford Lakes, you have a great track and I would love to return.
Regrettably, I will not be returning until you fix the horrendous issues with the pace of play. At the first tee, there were no less than 5 groups waiting on the teebox. Several groups around us did not complete their round due to painstaking waits on tee boxes and a continually interrupted round.
I understand it is a corporate course and the bottom line is the priority, but you should seriously consider adopting a 10 minute gap between tee times, enforcing strict punctuality guidance, and requesting a proof of handicap or prior experience.
I noted on one of the previous reviews you responded saying 8 minutes between tee times is the industry norm. Whilst this may be the case, the delays and pace of play we experienced at Pyrford certainly is not. I implore you and to review this situation at the course, and sincerely hope it improves as i would love to return.
Decent track and plenty of fun holes that make you think off the whites.
Very slow pace of play and no-one seems to replace pitch marks here - more to do with Saturday pm societies than a reflection of the course.
Great course at a great price
I played on my own at 06h00 so there was no one around and 3 hours off the white tees was great. I dare say later and with a 3/4 ball, it would be more than 4 hours. The greens are excellent as is the layout. Not too much water and you have to think your way around. The 9th is the hardest par 5 I have played in a long time but if you are good off the tee, scoring is relatively easy. Love the course and would definitely recommend it, especially at that price.
Mr Mullen
Myself and my partner were extremely disappointed with our recent trip to Pyrford Golf club. I am an experienced golfer and this was one of the slowest rounds of golf I have ever experienced, we walked in off the course after 7 holes because of the pace of the play. On multiple holes there were 3 groups on the tee box.
On a positive I felt the ambience and atmosphere at the club was good but the pace of play needs to seriously be looked at.
A Damaged beauty
This was a lovely course last year, but there is so much work going on here to alter lakes or add bunkers that at times its like playing on a building site. Clearly they took on too much work during lockdown and were unable to complete it. There is barely a hole that has not been scared in some way.
Having said all that the work aside it is still a lovely days golf with lots of good momorable and challenging holes with excellent greens.
Needs a lot of work
Played this weekend and joined the first with multiple groups already backed up. Made for a super slow round with 10 minute waits on each tee. The group in front of us had decided they wanted to play off the whites which the Marshall allowed and obviously only added to the delays.
The course is undergoing substantial maintenance and landscaping. We got an email the day before playing saying that 95% of the bunkers are GUR so to take a drop if you end up in one. The reality was that almost every hole had large areas without any grass so didn't make for the most picturesque round and looked half finished.
The course is very tight leading to a lot of balls and golfers coming across holes and even balls coming on to greens from other holes.
I imagine when work is done in a year or two it will look great but I would not return for the current price and think you need to play early to beat the queues.
Enjoyable
First time playing this course and I found it very enjoyable. A lot of water as stated on their website which made it more challenging. Quite a few of the fairways are tight and you have to be very accurate.
Will definitely be back again.
Best greens this year
Nkt played here before and was happy that i gpt off early at 6.04. I llay off 8 and wantes to test myswlf off the white tees and it was a test. My only criticism was that the diatance markers were not clear. But hknestly, a greaat course and the best greens i have seen for a long time. Well worth the money. The birdsong and frog song also made for a wildlife exploration too.
Under construction
The extensive changes being made to the course are far from complete. Even if they are finished in the next 2 months I suspect the sward will not recover until the autumn. The changes underway are interesting to see and have already improved Pyrford's playability. The course is still fun to play but there are many more bare patches than usual as a result of building equipment ingress. I look forward to playing here next year when the changes should have bedded in.
Must play a round
Beautifully designed, gorgeous to look at, wonderful to play and the friendliest people. If you haven’t played a round at Pyrford you simply must... NOW!!!!
Most enjoyable
There's a lot of water on this course, but generally avoidable. What it does is make you think about your shot selection. They obviously put a lot of work into maintaining this course and the greens were superb. A thoroughly enjoyable first visit. I will be back.
