Course Details
Course Name: Mcdonald Holes: 18 Yardage: 5942 SSS: 70 (73 Ladies) |
The Club is named after its benefactor, Sir James McDonald, who gifted the old woodlands to the people of Ellon in 1926. The longer front nine has a par of 37 and makes full use of its natural stream and gentle slopes to pose a whole host of problems. The shorter back nine has a par of only 33 but woe betides any golfer who believes the hard work is over. It winds its way through the magnificent wood with its stately tress and beautiful rhododendron bushes. The tree lined fairways puts high premium on accuracy – no more so than at the last two holes which dog-leg through very narrow gaps. At 5,942 yards, with a par of 70 (Ladies 73), this fine parkland 18 hole course may not be the longest, but it will prove difficult for those who do not treat it with respect. It provides a real challenge for the Tartan Tour Professionals who annually play in our Pro-Am and yet is a firm favourite with the occasional golfer who enjoys a weekend walk in pleasant surrounding and in good company. |
