This delightful , nine hole course surrounds Leeds Castle, near Maidstone in Kent. With the beautiful backdrop of the Castle and its moat, and an abundance of waterfowl, golfing at Leeds Castle is quite a unique experience.
The course was built on five hundreds acre Leeds Castle Estate in 1942 for Ho. Lady Baillie, then the owner of Leeds Castle. Lady Baillie died in 1974 and the Castle and Park, including the Golf Course, were bequeathed by her to the Leeds Castle Foundation. The Foundation is a private charitable trust which aims to preserve the beauty of the Castle and its grounds for the enjoyment of the public in perpetuity.
This public course I open nearly every day of the year. In 1988, parts of the course were redesigned by Neil Coles MBE, who was retained by Leeds Castle as their advisor. In 1997, continual improvements to the course culminated in the creation of the brand new 143 yard par 3 whose tee nestles beside the Castle Moat.
