Not the Best
First time returning after about a year, taking into account the time of year I thought the course was in poor condition. Fairways covered in worm casts, good job it was pick & place, grass was cur too short & was scabby all over. Signage between green & tee was non-existant . Green were fast and reasonably good condition. A lot of tee's were mats and often would not accept a tee. This was the 3rd different course I've played in the last 3 weeks & this was the poorest and the most expensive. Almost deserted.
Great Midweek value
As was close by., and given other reviews decided to visit course and play.
Considering all rain the course was in good condition for midweek round.
Course value for money was worth it, and I would definitely recommend.
Zzzz
Two days of golf, two 5/6 hour rounds! Totally overbooked, absolute chaos! We got to know the golfers we were sandwiched in between, the 2 groups in front of us and the 6 ball behind who had merged into one because of the slow pace of play,we would meet on each tee box for about 15 minutes, mainly to slate the course conditions, the aerated greens (on an august bankholiday),patchy fairways and the arrogant starter who when questioned about the shambles of the situation told us to 'deal with it,it's a big resort, what was u expecting, the course to yourself', vile bloke! We walked off after 9 holes on the 2nd day after seeing the back log for back 9,at least 6 groups waiting! Its a shame because we was really looking forward to the 2 days and the amount of people they squeezed onto the course ruined it for everyone, the rest of the hotel and staff were lovely,as was the food, but we won't be going back,or recommending it to any of our golf buddies, stay clear!
Treemendous
Great evening round. Recommend bug repellent though as I got lots of bug/ fly bites. Overall though super course
Excellent
First time playing the course and, it’s Amazing!
Pro shop staff very friendly and informative. Course was in immaculate condition. Layout, in my opinion, is perfect with a selection of tight dog legs and holes that you can really get after. Some challenging pin positions to keep you thinking about your game.
Overall I think this is some of, if not the best, golf you can play in the north. 10/10
Impressive
Every hole seemed to have thought needed on it, particularly liked how holes were made more difficult by trees blocking your drive which meant you needed to be creative. Course was in excellent condition, wish it was closer to home as I’d be a member pretty sharpish.
Absolutely superb, love this course!
This is one of my favourite courses in the area, its about 35 minutes drive from Doncaster and at 25 pounds on a weekday in winter it is an absolute steal. The reason why I say this is because they blow away the leaves and moisture from the greens and have a great tee box management programme so you are not teeing off in amongst a load of divots. My favourite 18 is Forest and then Pines but you can meet waiting groups on the 10th tee which is annoying but worth the wait. For me this is a proper, grown up course and is a superb challenge for any level of golfer. The bunkers were in great condition, the greens although wet were true running and well looked after. This course has draw and fade holes, long and short holes and some great par 3 holes too. Get into the Pines part of the 18 and you experience the SI18 par 5 hole which is I think the hardest on the whole 18, followed by an SI2 par 3 of 170 yards over a lovely pond which is one of the easiest holes on the 18. Not sure who decided how the SIs were worked out. But anyway, a fantastic course that if you get to play when its being cared for is for me one of the best in this area and could easily command 50 quid in winter at weekends and 60 or 70 in summer, its that good.
Course is a brilliant Layout
Course was in good condition seeing how much rain we’ve had a little bit wet in places, but in all a good day out
Great round
Fantastic course in great nick, loads of character and challenges, well worth playing we will be back.
Forest and pines
Not played here for over a year greens OK but fairways poor with mud patches were grass cut to short overall enjoyable will go again when summer here 🏌️
Leaves
Course was brilliant, apart from the leaves. I accept that leaves fall off trees, but when you lose 4 balls myself and my friend 5, it’s not a laughing matter. The groundsmen blow the leaves off the fairway but then the wind blows them back. A suggestion for you is to blow them into something, back of a trailer perhaps? The ground staff said they only have a couple of blowers, maybe a bit of investment is needed, also maybe you need to cut back some of the trees ASAP
