The 18 hole Dromoland Golf Course, located 8 miles from Shannon Airport, is set against the backdrop of the 16th Century Dromoland Castle Hotel.
It encompasses rolling hills, water hazards and century old trees. This superbly maintained par 71 course has been in existence since 1961. Over the years, many famous golfers have played Dromoland and described it as an excellent golf course, being both spectacular and challenging.
The fig tree restaurant and green room bar offer a wonderful variety of dining and cater for groups and societies. Our Leisure facilities include gymnasium, sauna, steam-room and beauty clinic.
Directions
Travel north from Limerick or Shannon on the N7. Dromoland is one mile from Newmarket on Fergus.

| Dromoland is a parkland course, designed by Ron Kirby and J.B. Carr . The course is set in an estate of rich woodland around a natural lake and has extensive views of a beautiful restored castle, now a luxury hotel. In the latter hole, expansive landscape views of The Shannon River are held behind along the neighbouring counties of Limerick and Kerry. Other holes are complimented by the River Rine, which flows through the estate. The seventh elevated tee gives a breathtaking views of the Castle, the lake and the Clubhouse, and has been commented on by many a golfer, famous an otherwise. I player Dromoland over the summer and found it an extremely enjoyable experience even though it was a bit too challenging for my limited golfing ability :-) It ceratinly caters for the wealthy tourist in that the average player won't be buying much in the pro-shop however what's wrong with that. If the money helps keeping up the standards of a supurb course then so be it. The main drive in to the castle runs beside a number of holes and I can tell you nothing concentrates the mind on the need to hit a straight shot than the appearance of a $150,000 BMW just as you are about to begin your backswing. Once my game improves I would love to go back and even join this club

I have played Dromoland several times. It is an excellent 18 hole golf course. The first hole is a bit of a climb but after that you will be overawed by the generally scenery. The only drawback with Dromoland is that it tends to look after its tourists more than its members.
