Course Details
Course Name: Charnwood Forest Holes: 9 Yardage: 5960 SSS: 69 |
Although only a nine hole golf course there are 18 tees some of which give panoramic views across the Charnwood Forest. Designed by James Braid the course was founded in 1890 and is the oldest Golf Club in Leicestershire. Played around volcanic outcrops of rock there are no bunkers, but natural hazards of heather, gorse and bracken await the miss-hit shot. The Course begins with a deceptively tough hole, but it is the 3rd and 4th that are more likely to be remembered due to the stone wall that crosses their fairways (a la North Berwick), threatening the drive at the 3rd and the approach shot at the 4th. Heather, gorse and bracken are the principal natural hazards on the course - plus the occasional boulder. See Golfer Reviews for more press here for Charnwood Forest Golf Club course reviews |
