Bamburgh Castle Golf Club was formed in 1904 and its finest traditions have been carefully preserved. The course is layed out on links and moor land which rises gently from 60 to 230 feet above sea level to give spectacular views of Holy Island, the Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle. Whilst comparatively short, the SSS of 67 is a significant challenge as evidenced by course record of 64 held by Club member, Mark Dawson.
The course is reputed to offer a unique and highly satisfying experience as is perhaps illustrated by the recent visit of Paul Eales and some of his fellow professionals who took time out to play Bamburgh before the 1999 Compaq European Grand Prix at Slayley Hall.
The Club Steward, Alan Bolam, and his wife Jean extend a warm welcome to visitors and golfers come from far and wide to sample the home-made soup, especially good on cold winter days.
Directions
Fifty miles north of Newcastle via the A1 and the B1341 or B1342 to Bamburgh. In the village, turn left into the Wynding opposite The Lord Crewe Arms.
